Service Valley Students Enjoy a Trip to The State Capital

It's not often you get a call from a State Representative... so I was a little nervous when our secretary told me that a state representative was waiting on the phone for me. I thought to myself, "Great what have I done now?"
I was relieved to find out that it was Richard Proehl, Kansas House Republican for District 7, on the other end of the line. I've known Mr. Proehl and his family for several years and I knew there was going to be an opportunity for someone.
Lucky for Service Valley students, Hali and Matt, Mr. Proehl was inviting them to be a "Page for a Day" at the state capital. Although, the students had to LEAVE at 4:30 in the morning I know they enjoyed every minute of their day. I know this because they could speak of little else the following day and they had numerous stories and cameras full of pictures (including one with Mr. Proehl and Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson).
It's exciting to see government officials taking time out of their busy schedules to remember the most important asset to our country... our kids.
