We are still planning on attending the archery tournament in Cherokee tomorrow. The tournament is at Southeast High School. The address is Southeast High School, 126 W 400 HWY, Cherokee, KS 66724. Please let us know if you can't make it because of sickness. It helps the tournament run smoother if they know that before their flight begins. As always, don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. Looking forward to a great tournament tomorrow.

Good afternoon. Due to increasing student and staff absences caused by illness, USD 504 will not be in session on Thursday, February 6th and Friday, February 7th. This will allow the district to engage in deep cleaning of the facilities. Hopefully, our 504 family will be healthier when we return to school on Monday, February 10th. Thank You.

On Feb. 22, the USD 504 archery teams will be hosting our second archery tournament. On Feb. 21, we will be working to set up for the tournament in the high school and junior high gyms. Starting at 3:30 on Friday, Feb. 21 we will start setting up the ranges in both gyms. We will need all hands on deck to make this as easy a transition as possible. All coaches, archers and parents are invited to help with the set up.
We will also need a tremendous amount of help running the tournament on Saturday, Feb. 22. A couple of positions we need filled are concession workers and gate workers. If we have parents that would be willing to work either of these positions we would greatly appreciate it. We will make sure that you are free to watch your child shoot on the day of the tournament. We have time slots for concession workers available every hour starting at 8:00 and ending at 4:00. If you are interested in working an hour session on Saturday, Feb. 22 please let us know. We will also do the same thing for gate workers. We will start hour long sessions for the gate at 7:30 on Saturday. We will have someone every hour ending at 4:00. Please let us know if you would be willing to work the gate. We will also need someone to announce in the 3D gym. Please let us know if you would be willing to do that.
Last year we ran an extremely successful tournament. We are all very proud of what we accomplished last year. Without everyone’s willingness to pitch in and help it would not have been possible. We hope that this year will be bigger and better than it was last year. We look forward to working with everyone to make this happen. Please don’t hesitate to contact any of the coaches with any questions you may have.

We will have archery practice Saturday, Feb. 1 in the NEHI gym. Practice will start at 5:30 pm and run until 8:00 pm. Practice format will be the same as it is on Wednesday.

The USD 504 archery teams traveled to Carl Junction Missouri for our 4th archery tournament this year. Once again, our archers distinguished themselves as individuals and teams that can compete with the best shooters in our area. We were fortunate to be able to shoot against the defending national championship middle school team on Saturday. Our shooters shot side by side with their shooters and showed that they belong in that level of shooter. In the history of the middle school program, no 504 team has shot a higher score than the score we shot on Saturday.
Would be a great accomplishment if we could shoot over 3200 by the end of the year. The elementary score of 2608 ranks in the top 5 scores our elementary team has ever shot. We are seeing a tremendous amount of improvement in the middle school and elementary teams. This has been really fun to watch so far this year. We are also seeing some increased participation at the high school level. We had a record number participate in the 3D shoot Saturday. We are excited to see how to grow in 3D as the year transpires. They have also been improving on the bullseye range. Extremely grateful to have the high school shooters contributing on our high school team.

The USD 504 archery teams will not be competing in Carthage this weekend. Our next tournament will be at Southeast on Feb. 8. Message Coach Cruse if you have any questions.

Here is a map of the campus at Carl Junction where our archery tournament is this weekend. Saturday morning we will set up in the high school. This is where you will get your bows and scorecards. If you are shooting in the junior high, we will walk from the high school to the junior high when it is your time to shoot. It is best to show up around 1 hour before you shoot. They will most likely let you in 10-15 minutes before your flight time . The address to the facility in on the map. Please let me know if you have any questions. I will communicate with everyone when your shooting time will be.

The USD 504 archers traveled to Pittsburg for our second tournament of the year on Saturday. Once again, our archers showed up and did a great job representing our school. This was an extremely competitive meet us. Throughout the day our middle school shooters battled Lamar. The tournament had 7 flights. At the start of the 6th flight Oswego was ahead of Lamar by 4 points. At the end of the 7th and final flight Oswego would trail Lamar by 9. Was extremely fun watching this play out throughout the day. Top three teams secured trophies. Oswego brought home three. One for the 3D, one for the elementary bullseye team and one for the middle school bullseye team. Medals were awarded for the top 3 shooters in each division. Those shooters for Oswego the won medals were: Axel Santana 1st place middle school boy 3D, Matthias Shaw 1st place middle school boys bullseye and Odalys Santana 1st place elementary girls bullseye. Congratulations to all of our shooters for a job well done on Saturday. Would like to also thank all of our coaches. They all dedicate many hours to ensure the development of our shooters. Without them we would not do as well as we do. A big thank you also goes out to all the parents for making sure our shooters get to the tournaments. Many of them leave meets and go straight to basketball or leave basketball and go straight to archery. Can’t thank them enough for doing what the do. Without the parents willingness to do this we would not have an archery team. Was a great day for Indian archers. Our next tournament will be Jan. 25 in Carl Junction.

The address for the archery tournament Saturday, Jan. 18 is: Pittsburg High School, 1978 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, Ks 66762. There will be an admission charge of $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for non shooters under 18. Coaches and shooters get in free. Please let us know if you have any questions.

The archery teams will be traveling to Pittsburg Saturday, Jan. 18 for our second tournament of the year. Our original schedule had us attending two meets on that date. Southeast has moved their meet to Feb. 8. We will not be shooting at Southeast on Jan. 18.

Today the Oswego archery teams traveled too Liberal for our first tournament of the year. Boy did we represent our school! All we did was come home with 12 medals and 3 trophies. I honestly can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching these kids shoot. They never cease to amaze me with how much they improve each year. We have some extremely dedicated kids and coaches. Am extremely proud of our archers and the coaches for all they do every day to improve. Our middle school bullseye team placed first with a score of 3190 with 111 tens shot. Compare that to 3011 last year with 70 tens shot. What an impressive day for our middle school team. Our middle school also competed as a team in the 3D shoot for the first time in school history. We have had individuals compete. Have never had enough for a team. All they did was secure a second place finish with a score of 1514 with 40 tens shot. The winning team from Carl Junction shot a score of 1543. The elementary school placed first also with a score of 2403 with 31 tens shot. Last year at this time we shot a team score of 2255 with 20 tens shot. Pretty impressive improvement from them also. The high school did not have enough to form a team. We hope in the near future that we will have enough to complete a team. We also had 30 archers shoot their career best scores Saturday. Those shooters with PR scores were:Matthias Shaw 261 3D, Axel Santana 237 3D, Kobe Hazel 219 3D, Chloe Rhodenbaugh 259 3D, Elizabeth Dalton 257 3D, Andelyn Johnson 251 3D, Brooklynn Hazell 235 3D, Michael Varner 281 Bullseye, Elizabeth Dalton 275 Bullseye, Amelia Head 268 Bullseye, Skyler Neblett 260 Bullseye, Paris Clifton 260 Bullseye, Emily Wible 252 Bullseye, Camron Edmond 244 bullseye, Emma Barnett 219 Bullseye, Oakley Gatton 210 Bullseye, Elias Smith 210 Bullseye, Ryder Collins 208 Bullseye, Samuel Byrd 200 Bullseye, Xitlally Santana 195 Bullseye, Orrin Fuller 181 Bullseye, Jackson Gilley 180 Bullseye, Adelynn Queen 155 Bullseye, Kenzie Rion 123 Bullseye, Brayleigh Blake 121 Bullseye, Madison Spencer 113 Bullseye. Top five archers in each division earned medals for their efforts. Those receiving medals were: Matthias Shaw 3D, Chloe Rhodenbuagh 3D, Elizabeth Dalton 3D, Andelyn Johnson 3D, Michael Varner Bullseye, Matthias Shaw Bullseye, Elizabeth Dalton Bullseye, Skyler Neblett Bullseye, Camron Edmond Bullseye, Odalys Santana Bullseye, Cage Miller Bullseye, Xitlally Santana Bullseye. Trophies were awarded to the top three teams. Our middle school bullseye, middle school 3D and elementary bullseye teams all secured trophies. I can’t say enough about how we performed today. We have been shooting pretty well in practice. Sometimes that does not translate to tournament day. We definitely showed up on the big stage today. Next Saturday we travel to Pittsburg for our second tournament. I anticipate we will do well and can’t wait for that day to arrive. Thank you goes out to everyone that traveled to Liberal to show their support for all of our archers today. Was a great day to be an Indian. We also had two archers shoot two perfect rounds of 50 Saturday. Both Michael Varner and Matthias Shaw shot perfect rounds. Congratulations to both of those archers. Other students participating on Saturday were Cage Miller, Raylan Gilliland, Allison Becker, Junior Martin, Kross Fuller, Gabe Spencer, Jaxon Blair, Landyn Kratzer, Amelia Owens, Sydney Huebner, Ava Edmond, Maicee Wimp, Isabella George, McKenna White, Chance Mills, Brody Braun and Justice Spunaugle. Middle School team first place 3190 111 tens (3011 last year 70 tens) Middle School 3D team second place 1514 40 tens (first place had 1543) Elementary team first place 2403 31 tens (2255 last year 20 tens) I would just like to add a little more to what we accomplished yesterday at Liberal. Our team score of 2403 ranks us at 169 out of 355 elementary teams in the United States. Our team score of 3190 ranks the middle school team at 44 out of 591 middle school teams in the United States. As far as individual scores go. Skyler Neblett is ranked 133 out of 4981 elementary boys. Elizabeth Dalton is ranked 235 out of 4991 middle school girls. Michael Varner is ranked 124 out of 4901 middle school boys and Mathias Shaw is ranked 176 out of 4901 middle school boys. Axton Myers is 295 out of 5000 high school boys. To make this list you would need to be in the top 300 in your division. We had a pretty good day yesterday.
